Thursday at The Track

Today I focused on speed, so I went to the track and did some mile repeats. Ugh, it hurt! It was rather painful, but somehow I got through it (I must confess that I wanted to go home fast so I could eat my delicious oatmeal!).

I ended up running about 17 miles today. I'm feeling a little sore and quite tired, but hopefully it'll be a slow shift at work tonight. Stay tuned for the next video!!!

P.S. Disregard the weird camera angle. It's hard getting it right by yourself =/

I'm officially accepted to the BOSTON MARATHON for 2013!!!! I'm so excited, nervous and thrilled at the same time! I have been pining for this race for about 3 years now and I can't believe I'm running it this year. It's going to be a lot of work, but my mind is set on it!

I've got my "spirit fingers" going!! (LOL!)
But in the meantime, I woke up feeling a little sick. Actually more like, my body wants to catch a cold. So this is my best remedy:
I absolutely loathe the idea of a flu vaccine shot. I think they're useless and quite a scheme, so the best alternative is the above concoction:
3 cups of Pinapples
6 fresh lemons
1 garlic clove
2 tsp ginger powder
2 tbs honey
1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
Blend together and drink 1 cup four times a day until symptoms are resolved! It's quick, natural and easy!! YUM!

Any other ideas to resolve my cold???

Thankful Tuesdays

Just wanted to say THANK YOU to the following things that make running easier for me and provide much pleasure to my body =) :

Thank you to the inner lining of running shorts. Now this is what I call "natural" (aka going commando) running!


Thank you Run Guard for not letting my Cuban inner thighs get chafed, despite the occasional rubbing =/
Thank you Oppa Gagnum Style Radio on Pandora for making my runs feel like I'm a Sexy Lady despite being drenched in sweat and looking like a mad woman ;)
Thank you compression socks for helping me with muscle soreness despite people in the street thinking I'm a school girl or some kind of girl trying to role play as one as I run in the street
Thank you to the ramps inside of garages for being my hills in hill-less Miami
Thank you to the sport of running for helping runners with their digestive system..Just sayin'

Monday Madness

So, this week's mileage tallied up to 70 miles and next week's mileage is projected at 76 miles. You'd figure that I would be craving this:

I am officially addicted to the sweet, decadent and smooth almond butter!!!
Hey, it has 5 health benefits:
1. Good for the <3 (it's filled with good fats)
2. Lowers blood pressure (because it lowers cholesterol)
3. Controls blood sugar (it won't spike up your sugar and insulin levels & it makes for a tasty dessert!)

Sundays were made to R.E.S.T

I got up bright and early this AM (about 6:30 am) and did a 15 mile tempo run. I'm feeling refreshed and ready to go to my friend Jessica's baby shower. Now for a hearty breakfast of old-fashioned oatmeal, egg whites and strawberries.. MmMmMm

Pre-Birthday Long Run


So today I ran the last long run of my 20's. As of tomorrow I will be the dirty 30! (ugh!). Anyhow, today's run was amazing. It was actually 58 degrees this morning, which is an anomaly for Miami. My workout consisted of a 5.5 mile warm-up and then a 6 mile progression of 2miles @ 7.00 min pace, then 2miles @ 6.50 min pace, then 2miles @ 6.40 min pace and then a 5.5 cool down. Now some chillaxing for the rest of the day.... ;) Pin It

erika's Must-Haves

What are my must-haves you ask? Besides my two cups of coffee (I'm a lunatic without my coffee lol), I also drink a "Glowing Green Smoothie" every day. It's the best way to get my superfoods in for the day and of course, it's the best way to beautify my vibrant, smooth skin (wink).


I know I know, it looks like baby puke, but it tastes DELICIOUS. My green smoothie contains kale, romaine lettuce, spinach, broccoli, celery, lemon juice, 1 apple and 1 banana. All the ingredients are organic. And don't forget the supplements. I take fish oil (good for memory!), iron (since I don't eat red meat), Vitamin D (probably the most important's good for the joints, muscle soreness and a cancer fighter) and BioAstin (it's a great anti-oxidant and good for the joint).

Blogging...On the Go

I usually run before I go to work at 7pm (I work the night shift from 7p-7a!). My schedule is a little awkward so I wake up at about 3 pm and then go for a run. Today though, I woke up a bit earlier than usual (ugh!) because I had to be at work early. Despite that, I packed my running bag and grabbed my uniform and I ran at work. It's ALWAYS a good day to run no matter the circumstances or the weather! What do you think??
