Finally, my package arrived! After waiting about 2 weeks for this box, I opened it up and this is what I found:
I excitedly ripped through the bags to find the tutus I had ordered online for the Disney Princess Half Marathon!!
Aren't they adorable? From left to right: Alice in Wonderland tutu (for me), Minnie Mouse tutu (for my sister) and Belle tutu (for my mom).
This is quite the epic run for a few reasons:
1. It's a tribute to women of all ages
2. It focuses on every attribute that a princess possesses: commitment, courage, determination, fantasy, perseverance, and strength.
3. The course is designed to be run through Disney World (FUN!)
4. And last but not least, the beautiful tiara medal at the end!!! (How magical!)
In an effort to motivate my mother to exercise and run, I suggested that she sign up for "fun" races. You see, my mom smoked cigarettes for 30 years until she finally decided to kick the habit. It's been a few years since she quit, but unfortunately, she gained some weight afterwards. Despite having quit smoking, she was still feeling unhealthy. That's when I planted the seed in her mind to start running.
At the age of 50, she decided to start running and to her surprise, she lost all the weight she had gained. What was even more inspiring was the fact that she was able to run her first half marathon last year at the Miami ING Half Marathon.

Now, my sister and I will accompany my mom at the Disney Princess run on Sunday, February 24th!
