Splurging in New York

Hello friends! I know I know, it's been five whole days since I've written on my blog. Trust me, my intentions were there, but something unexpectedly occurred on Friday. As I was getting ready to relax this past weekend and start my weekend chores, my sister called and asked me if I wanted to go to New York with her. "Are you kidding me? Of course!" I told her. Apparently she had to go for some business thing, but I figured "Why not?" Needless to say, it was a short weekend, but fun-filled nonetheless.

So, on Friday night I got my things ready and I even blow-dried my hair! I never wear my hair loose unless there's a special occasion. I can't help it, I'm sorta tom-boyish ;)

We left on Saturday morning and we arrived early in the afternoon to the Big Apple. Destination: The Hilton Hotel in the Fashion District.

Next up: A little bit of sightseeing...

*Grand Central Station*

*Madison Square Garden*

*Movies in Time Square*
By the way, the movie Prisoners is a must see. Hugh Jackman and Jake Gyllenhaal were spectacular. My little confession: I fell in love with Jake in Brokeback Mountain!

Later that night, we went back to our hotel room and as Murphy's Law would have it I was starving. My stomach was literally yelling at me and begging me to feed it- I needed a snack! So, I called room service and they told me that they had closed for the night. Since when does room service close at night? Whatever happened to the late night menu? Hello?! Anyway, I ended up calling the front desk and I asked them if they had a vending machine. Of course their answer was "No." Grrrrr!

That's ok because I totally used my pregnant chic card and I pleaded with the receptionist to make an exception to open the kitchen. This baby needed some food! He said he couldn't but that he had some snacks in the front desk. "Well, what do you have?" I asked. He said, "I have yogurt covered pretzels, chocolate covered raisins and trail mixes." It was like music to my ears. Five minutes later, he was at my door with a pretty red bag and all these snacks inside...

I didn't quite splurge like I wanted to, but I ended up eating the trail mix. Baby Myles was happy =)
On Sunday, I told my sister I wanted to splurge a little and have a somewhat cheat meal.

*I played dress up for a bit and ended up choosing this outfit*
*Blue Fin restaurant*
*Date with my sister*
*Appetizer: Crab cake*

*Appetizer: Steamed vegetable dumplings*

*Pan seared branzino fish in pumpkin sauce with roasted walnuts and red quinoa. Garnished with apple slices and spinach leaves.*
It was a short weekend, but I had a blast nonetheless. It's too bad I am completely exhausted now. Is this why they caution women not to fly when they're pregnant? =(
How was your weekend?
I am grateful for spending time
with my sister this weekend.
